Co-Founders and cousins, Janae Moss and Mandy Oliver can vouch that blood is thicker than water. They grew up together riding horses on the family ranch in the Utah desert where Janae was raised, and riding the waves along the southern California coastline that Mandy calls home. They both love the homegrown comforts of country living and the laidback fun of surf and sun, and value their shared heritage that includes both desert and sea. With kindred spirits, a love of fashion, and a desire to make a difference, Mandy and Janae set out to create a fashion label that would embody their eclectic natures, their exuberance for life, and their philosophy that you don’t have to be high maintenance to be high fashion.
The inspiration for their first luxury handbag came from rummaging through trash to find treasures, and was designed from remnants. That tradition continues today, and each Native Honey product is uniquely handmade from recycled fabric remnants. Each piece combines the simplicity, practicality and homemade textures of the desert with the vibrant colors, rhythmic mayhem and urban luxury of the coast. Mandy and Janae believe that like their one of a kind treasures, the people that buy them are also one of a kind - an authentic product of their own unique heritage! Native Honey is a reflection of their life philosophy:
Be yourself – everyone belongs and has a purpose.
At Native Honey we use recycled treasures to create one of a kind bags for one of a kind women.
We believe in doing all you can with what you have, and we use recycled materials to make new and beautiful things. We believe that the world is as small as you make it, and we aim to make it smaller by donating a portion of our proceeds each month to charities all over the world. We love to create beauty; whether a new bag, a well decorated space, or the smile of someone who has benefited from our work. We embrace diversity and encourage everyone to discover their native heritage and make it their own. We are proud to belong to a rich heritage of family, religion, and love of the outdoors.
